Most cameras only record once an event has triggered a sensor. Video footage is reviewed after the event to understand who, what when, where and how. While this information is important, it is reactive and provides no ability to stop an event in progress.

Live video monitoring often prevents and deters crime at the perimeter before the crime even happens, thanks to the continued development and integration of artificial intelligence and advanced video analytics paired with live operator intervention to detect, verify, warn, intervene, and respond to an intrusion event in real-time.

When an alert is received, Commissionaires take appropriate action, such as providing a real-time audio warning to the intruder – which most often causes them to flee the scene, thus deterring crime before it happens. If required, we can dispatch our mobile guards or police services to secure the scene. Live video monitoring is simple.

• Live CCTV is routed via your internet connection from your CCTV cameras onsite to the servers at the monitoring station.
• Choose whether you require the connection between the Commissionaires and your security system to be live at all times or automatically switched on at the end of the working day.
• Live video monitoring uses specially designed CCTV monitoring software to ensure that as soon as an alarm is triggered on your site or activity has been detected, a live feed of the incident gets routed to the screen of our security professionals.
• Once connected to your live feed, professional operators have full manual control over your CCTV cameras, able to pan and zoom cameras, switch cameras for a better view, and rerun recent footage.

If Commissionaires identify risk to your site, we react immediately and will:

• Communicate directly to the location, sending audio warnings via loudspeaker.
• Dispatch our mobile guards or police services
• We contact you (or, the keyholder, depending on your security instructions)
• Nine times out of ten the loudspeaker warning is enough to drive the intruders away thus deterring crime before it happens.

As our professional security staff are watching and reporting on live footage, emergency services will react immediately to investigate the issue. In comparison, if it was a static alarm signal, without any visual verification, the incident may be deprioritised, leading to longer response times and an increased potential for damage or theft.
